Old Business

All old business was tabled until October's meeting.

New Business

Presentation to Santa Cruz Radio Club

Chris will be giving a presentation about SVWUX's wireless network to the Santa Cruz Radio Club on September 15, 2006. The meeting starts at 7:30pm and will be held at the Dominican Hospital, 1555 Soquel Drive, Santa Cruz. More information can be found on SCRC's website at [http://www.k6bj.org/info.html]. The meeting is open to the public, so feel free to come and invite friends and family!

AMPRnet

Doug Thom recently handed AMPRnet coordination for the bay area (i.e. northwestern California) to Chris. At the meeting, Chris asked the amateur radio operators in the room to think about other purposes for the 44.4.0.0/16 address space. Packet radio, while a neat wireless technology, is definitely a dying one; to help wireless enthusiasm and revive interest in amateur radio, Chris would like to put together a new proposal for use of the addresses but needs your help! Send any ideas on what the address space can be repurposed for to Chris.

Linux Picnic summary

William gave a summary of the events on the day of the picnic. Things went well with only one or two minor hiccups. William's summary can be read on his website.

While many people were involved in the setup of the wireless network, special thanks go to William Estrada (project lead), Tim Utschig, John Amos, Bill Dale, Chris Verges and Chip Greer (our Finisar sponsor) for their assistance with this project on multiple days!
